A tab has a tree panel on the left-hand side, and the normal editor on the right-hand side. The tree panel looks and behaves similarly to the tree in Windows Explorer, each branch of the tree (called "item") can hold a separate item. When a new tab is created, the tree has only one item. You can add as many items to the tree as you want, and you can arrange them in a convenient hierarchy. To create a new item, click the tree panel and press Ctrl+W.

TIP: Right-click the tree panel to display a context menu with frequently used commands.

Operate Tabs and Items

GENERAL INFORMATION

The tabbed + tree structure are more efficient, they load faster when you open the file, and allow you to organize information better, There is no limit to the number of "items" in the tree. There is also no limit to the length of text that each item.

CREATING NEW TABS AND ITEMS

To create a new tab: press Ctrl+N, or choose "New Tab..." from the "Tab" menu. If you like, you can also click the "Properties" button to open a dialog box where you can specify many options for the tab you are creating. (For instance, you can specify the font and background color for the tree text.) After you have finished configuring the properties, click OK to close the Properties dialog box.

Click OK to close the "New Tab" dialog box and create the new tab.

A new tab will be created. The tab will contain a tree with one item. You can add items to the tree and edit them. (See below for information about tree functions)

Once you have created a tab, You can, however, edit all properties of the tab at any time by pressing CTRL+F2.

TREE FUNCTIONS

  • You can add an unlimited number of branches to the tree.
  • There is no limit to how deep you can nest tree branches.
  • You can sort the whole tree or a selected branch.
  • You can specify all font properties for the tree text.
  • You can change the background color of the tree.
  • You can move items Up, Down, Left or Right.
  • You can rename items, or paste a item name from clipboard.
  • You can save the tree structure to a file.
  • You can export the contents of a single item in the tree.

All these functions are accessible via the right-click context menu in the tree, or via the "Tree" main menu. Most functions have keyboard shortcuts assigned to them.

HINTS AND TIPS

All items can contain text. There is no concept of a "folder" item as separate from an actual item. There is also no concept of a "root item", i.e. you can have as many 0-level items as you want. I think this approach is better than having separate "folder" and "item" branches, because a folder is merely an empty branch in the tree. MyNotes Keeper can put text in ANY branch.

MyNotes Keeper can remember which item in the tree was selected, and automatically jump to this item when you open the file later on.

You can make the tree wider or narrower by dragging the vertical "splitter" bar which divides the tree from the editor. Each tab retains the tree width independently of other notes, and the width of the tree is always restored when you open a previously saved file. (If the size of the main MyNotesKeeper window is too small to make the tree as wide as it was previously, the tree is automatically narrowed to fit.)

Encrypt File

GENERAL INFORMATION

MyNotesKeeper supports secure encryption. Each MyNotesKeeper file can be encrypted using supported algorithms. This allows you to protect your sensitive data with an access passphrase. An encrypted file cannot be opened without entering the passphrase that was used to scramble it.

CAUTION! IF YOU FORGET YOUR PASSPHRASE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS YOUR ENCRYPTED MYNOTESKEEPER FILE!

There are no backdoors, and the cipher algorithms used have no known weaknesses which would allow you - or anyone - to crack the encryption, even using a brute-force attack.

HOW TO ENCRYPT YOUR MYNOTESKEEPER FILE

Create a new file or open an already existing .MNK file. To encrypt the file, choose "File password" from the "File" menu.

Remember that the passphrase is case-sensitive. To open the encrypted file, you will have to enter the passphrase PRECISELY as you typed it in this dialog box.

When you later open this file, MyNotes Keeper will prompt you for the access passphrase. MyNotes Keeper will not be able to open an encrypted file if you do not supply the correct passphrase.

Create e-book

Use this command you can create your own stand-alone e-Books for your MyNotes Keeper document. So that you can browse you MyNotes Keeper document at any computers with out this software 'MyNotes Keeper'

Publishers and printers are constantly working on how to make better, cheaper hard bound books since the time of Gutenberg. The only noticeable improvement achieved was the introduction of convenient, low cost paperbacks. It was about 60 years ago. These days, there are much more cost effective, convenient, simpler, and more importantly, environment friendly options are available.

Just think about creating paper books. You have to kill trees for the paper (reducing the global ecosystem's capacity to generate oxygen and getting rid of poisonous carbon dioxide from the air we breath). Warehousing and transporting paper supplies back and forth uses a great deal of resources which also pollute the environment.

On the other hand, an electronic book has none of these harmful side effects. An eBook can be stored and transmitted at virtually zero cost. When you consider the economic and environmental prospective, eBooks are an obvious choice of any cost conscious person. We would like to think, in the near future, all published books and works will use an eBook format instead of paper.

Use MyNotes Keeper to create a attractive eBooks for distribution. Create stand-alone executable eBook files in a user friendly environment complete with freely distributable elegant reader
