Missing buttons

Postby otarka » Wed Jul 07, 2010 10:29 am

Hi,

I am using version 1.99 build 1199 on Windows XP SP3 and have find out that the Edit, Ok and Cancel buttons on the bottom are missing in the dialog windows for tagging and Add Templates. Any idea what is causing this and how to solve this?

TIA

I tried to repeat your experience.
In Version 1.9.9 (Build 1205) box "Apply Tags" behaves quite normally.

Try to download the current version.
Installer: http://www.mynoteskeeper.com/mnk_setup.exe
Portable: http://www.mynoteskeeper.com/mnk.zip

Waiting for your message about the result of sample.

Respectfully, sovv

P.S.
Maybe have changed some settings in the window "Display Properties -> Advanced Appearance"? For example, increase the font size for system messages.

Hi Sovv,

I have downloaded the latest build portable version on a usb stick and tried it on a different computer (XP/sp3). It shows a normal tag window with buttons. After that I returned to the computer where the problem occurs, uninstalled MNK, cleaned the register (both with cCleaner), looked in the Document and Settings folder for MNK files (coundn't find any) and put in the usb stick with the portable version of MNK. I opened the file and went to the tag window..... NO BUTTONS! So this must be something in the windows operation system.... strange!

I have dowmloaded and installed the the latest installer version of MNK and still get the problem, but at least I now know a way to work around it when I want to edit the tags in a particular file.

Meanwhile...thanks sovv for your time. I'm hope to find the cause for the problem within the operating system on that particular computer. At least it is no bug in MNK!

greetings,

otarka

Hello, otarka
Thank you for your kind words.
I'm not an expert on Windows. But I think there some fault with fonts.
On your screenshots font is too big. And the place for the buttons are left.
May be damaged font file Microsoft Sans Serif.
Or try:

"Fonts - Replace All

A font may seem to be installed correctly but does not appear in the Fonts folder because the Fonts key in the registry is missing or damaged.

Move the contents of the Fonts folder to an empty folder. By opening the Fonts folder, select all the fonts, copy them, and paste them to a new folder. Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts. Highlight the key and press DELETE. Once the key has been deleted create a new key to replace it, by selecting Edit/New/Key and name the new
key [Fonts].

Restart the computer, then re-install the fonts by opening the Control Panel, double-click on 'Fonts'. And from the File menu select 'Install New Fonts...' adding the fonts that were previously copied to the temporary directory. "

It didn't work for me in Win 7. The attachment shows what my screen looks like. Any idea how to solve this issue?

Thanks.

Radekzadek,

There is another possibillity to solve the problem, although I don't know if it works the same way in Windows 7, as I am using Windows XP.
Click with your right mouse button on your Windows desktop and select Properties in the menu. Click on the tab Properties For Screen and click on the button Advanced. Here you can change the DPI size of the letters in your resolution of the screen. Choose a smaller size and you probably get your missing buttons in MSK back after restarting your system.

Hope this will help

Thanks, but nothing seems to do the job. Fortunately I can still use the dialog box using the Alt key shortcuts, and the TAB, but it is a pain. Oh well...
